Preschools usually work around a formal curriculum and trained teachers - making them a little more expensive! Nursery schools are usually a more relaxed learning environment and more flexible enrolment terms. They are also cheaper and vary greatly.

What age is a preschooler? Ages up to 4 is considered preschooler with toddlers are 1 - 3 year old bracket. Basically 4-year-old are not 'toddling' around any more and so are no longer toddlers!

What does preschool mean? A preschool, or nursery school, is a pre-primary school, or play school for early childhood education. Preschool is for children before they begin compulsory education at primary school.

It was a long time ago from what I can remember the little swimming pool had just been installed so that must have been early 60 's . I did enjoy my time there and then on to colliery road school. Then joined the navy.

Landed here randomly but... why is there a man with his face blurred out loitering around outside this school? It's like something out of BrassEye...

Best Gravesend Secondary Schools -

Thamesview School

Thong Ln, Gravesend DA12 4LF, UK – 01474 566552

This school is very sophisticated but it has to many children there I say we decrease the population in the school. They have a six form but it is not very good. The temporary head teacher is not very nice as he used to look AT THE CHILDREN so if you want a dysfunctional child SEND THEM HERE

Great school that has managed to turn it self around. Used to be very poorly managed and educational results were not the best but in the last couple of years they have managed to turn it around. Full marks have to be given to the staff

Ifield School

Cedar Ave, Gravesend DA12 5JT, UK – 01474 365485

Ifield School is one of, if not THE best school for children with all kinds of special needs. My younger brother is a pupil at the school, I can honestly say that I have never seen him happier. There are so fewer outburst at home, he's become such a happy, outgoing young man and I couldn't be prouder of the progress he has made, with the help of this school.

Because I've been here for 4 years and I've learnt a lot since I've moved to this lovely school in september 2012 x

Independent Schools

Saint Josephs Preparatory School

46 Old Rd E, Gravesend DA12 1NR, UK – 01474 533012

My kids have loved it here and I personally cannot recommend it enough. The quality of education, pupil wellbeing and community feeling are all key attributes to this school's excellance. Teachers are approachable and always happy to discuss any matters that may arise with you. They work hard to ensure pupils receive the best education and that is reflected in the high academic attainment of the pupils.

Moved both our children to this school 2 terms ago and can honestly that there attitude to learning has really improved. They've already had day trips out of school which they've really enjoyed. We really believe in developing our kids as a whole, St Joseph's are fulling this extremely well. It is unfortunate that ofsted has not recognised many of the schools strengths. It is very obvious that the school has taken things seriously and is working hard to implement the ofted requirements!

Adult Education

Robyn Academy Dance & Theatre Arts

152A Milton Rd, Town Centre, Gravesend DA12 2RG, UK – 01474 878494

The Robyn Academy is a great place for your child to learn to either dance, act or sing (well all three in my daughters case). Since the Academy moved to its new studios in April, my daughter has spent most of her spare time dancing and practising there. She has a great set of friends and they all help each other out. Some of her friends dance just for fun while some are more serious; my daughter falls into the "serious about dance" category and I would recommend the knowledge and skills of the teachers to anyone in the Gravesend and surrounding area.

Private Tutors

Bee Bright Tuition

281 Rochester Rd, Gravesend DA12 4TW, UK – 07859 822264

A well run organised team of tutors. Great you can go to them rather than interrupt family life. My son was happy to go each week and I would definitely recommend them and would happily use them again.

Fantastic tuition and great tutors. Like the fact that you can build and maintain a good relationship and they're always willing to answer any question.. Thank you very much for all your help and assistance. My daughter also love the tuition she received which help her achieve fantastic scores in all of the 11+ exams she took. Thank you Bee Bright Tuition

Paro Tuition

62 Windmill Street, Paro Tuition, Gravesend DA12 1BJ, UK – 01474 247629

My nephew has been attending Paro tuition for over 6 months. We have tried multiple 11+ tutors in the greater London area and I can say with confidence that paro is the best of the bunch. Paro has fantastic tutors who provide a great service to their students and also communicate progress and challenges clearly to parents and carers. I would definitely recommend Paro to anyone looking for a tutor!!

A colleague of mine recommended I use Paro Tuition to prepare my son for his 11+ examinations. He passed with flying colours and I largely attribute this to Paros fantastic tutors and their structured yet personable approach to teaching. My son managed to secure a spot at the grammar school of our choice which I was over the moon with! Very highly recommended.
